AUSTIN, TX – Girling Health Care employee Micki Davis was honored with the PCA of the Year 2008 award at the Oklahoma Department of Human Services (DHS) statewide conference held June 12th in Oklahoma City. The PCA of the Year award is presented to a personal care attendant that goes above and beyond to care for their clients.

"I am very proud of Micki Davis’ recognition by the DHS," Wayne Douglas, president of Girling Community Care said. "She truly exemplifies the character, leadership and compassion that are vital in this industry."

Nominations came from across the state. Davis was nominated by Girling’s Oklahoma City management team for her outstanding efforts during an ice storm this past winter. Most of her clients had no electricity and were home alone. She risked the storm and visited each client with blankets, chili and coffee. Davis not only provided physical warmth, she brought a feeling of comfort to her clients in a time of great need.

During the luncheon, Davis was awarded a trophy, two gift baskets and a $700 gift. Additionally, a "Loving Care" sculpture that bears her name will be displayed in the Aging Services office.
