Sign Physician Orders
Electronic Signature Policy
- It is the policy of this Agency to accept electronic signatures from clinicians and physicians which have been appropriately authenticated in the Pathways Homecare system.
- Electronic signatures will be accepted when the following conditions are met:
- the physician/clinician provides this agency with current licensure information
- the physician/clinician registers for an electronic signature username
- the physician/clinician establishes a computer secure unique EVA password identifier as their electronic signature password
- The unique EVA password identifier is authentication of the physician/clinician's signature. This password is established by the physician/clinician when orders are signed initially and kept in confidence by the physician/clinician to safeguard against unauthorized access. The physician/clinician can change this password at any time to further protect the password from unauthorized use.
- Documents signed electronically are printed and filed in the clinical record. In the event of system failure, computer back-up tapes are available both on and off site for recreation of records.
